Stairs 2017

Image
In the beginning of 2016, I had the crazy idea to get into shape.  So, since I didn't have any free time nor a place to spend the nonexistent time... I decided walking the stairs was a great idea. Coworkers were doing it, it'll be fun. We'll get to walk and talk, and bond. Maybe I could even make a friend or two! Until I realized I could climb 3 floors without wanting to fall over and pant for air. I was that out of shape.  I was so embarrassed. An Army Veteran, couldn't even scale 3 floors without needing a rest.  In this post last year I get more into detail about the experience and how I overcame it. I want to say it was quick and easy but it took a lot of work.  But... the work was worth it because now I can do crazy cool things in the same stair well.  I want to share one  with you.

My First Men’s Summit

In the beginning of this year, an opportunity appeared for a conference in the Dallas Fort Worth area. This is my record of it. It took us about 5 hours to get from League City to Roanoke with a stop midway at Buc’ees in Madisonville. By the time we had luggage down and secured, it was time to head to the conference. This was my first so I had no clue what to expect. The campus was huge and food trucks and entertainment courses lined the parking lot. At registration, I found out the first meal was free. I heard about Fuzzy Tacos from somewhere, never had them, so had to try them. After dinner, it was time to line up. There were thousands of guys beside us. The group wanted to sit together. Good luck sticking 20 people together, right? After the night’s session, they had more entertainment options. It was a wonderful event. We rocked and rolled until they kicked us out for the night. Next morning, I went rogue and detached from the gro

My Weekend at Camp K

You'd think all 3 my kids were in cub scouts but it's just the middle. We roll in as a team though. Stay in the mix. Get the fullest out of the events Emily is a huge help and John isn't much of a bother so the den doesn't mind. Thank God. Anyway, we had the opportunity to go camping with the cub scouts at Camp K about an hour or so away from the house. The thing is, we didn't have a tent... Or sleeping bags... We didn't have much of anything. Besides people. So, I reached out and asked the community if we could loan some gear. My circle responded with more generosity than I ever expected! Family blessed us with a new tent, sleeping bags, and camp lights. We had everything we needed to go camping! Camping I decided our inaugural trip, only Colin and I should go. Too many variable with multiple first time campers. Also, the weather forecasted to be stormy Friday night. I took a 1/2 off so we could beat the weather. We ended up being the first to
