A Note from Last Year

A Note from Last Year. Today I started Fit2Fat2Fit Dietbet, weighing in at 240 pounds . I just weighed myself before going to bed, 244 and a half pounds. Now instead of losing 9.6 pounds in 4 weeks, I need to lose 14.1. Joy... I'm not giving up but that's all types of discouraging... Does this sound familiar? Every time you start, you fall backward. You're not alone. The thing is... If that's when you give up, you lose. Instead, get up and try again. What's the point you may ask? Only you know 'What the point' is. Only you can know your 'Why'. What I'm saying is 'Don't give up on your why'. Giving up is easy but that won't make life easy. What Happened? By the way, I lost that 14.1 pounds and even more. Then, my long term goal was 220. I eventually had to make another goal of 200. I'm now at 190. That's 50 pounds! And I'm still losing fat... And gaining a ton...

Not Giving Away My Shot!

This morning I weighed in a full pound heavier than yesterday. Flip the table! Then the split second of anger subsided to a chuckle. Yes, I still have a tendency to kick myself in the morning but I'm finding it's starting to be a healthy thing. My trigger now triggers a healthier introspection of my previous day. Instead of condemning myself, I review the day and see if there's something I did wrong.  Yes, that took me a while to learn how to do. In fact, there was. Yesterday's Dinner Yesterday I made chicken, rice, and green beans. Not too bad right? I also toasted up some bolillo bread in the oven. Being health conscious, I divided each 6 in loaf into two, serving size friendly pieces. Being smart, I abstained from getting the second piece during dinner. Fast forward to clean up. There was the other half, next to a baking pan of chicken grease and roasted seasoning. I tell you like a viper I struck. I droppe...

Stopping on the Sixth

I catch myself slipping into a lax state. I am conflicted about this. For one, I deserve a break now and them. Even God broke up creation into 6 days. He even called the day good and stopped. He even rested the 7th day. I don't think God took that time because he needed the break. Instead I think he gave us a model on how to do things. To chunks tasks and rest between. To take a break every so often. But how much rest is too much rest? What's the balance to work to rest ratio. I think it's in the same place. 1 day of work and 6 days of rest doesn't bear fruit, it grows weeds. But 24 consecutive days of work doesn't really bear you more fruit faster. I know I've dedicated a ton of time on certain subject and became upset when the fruit of my labor doesn't produce in my preferred time line. There's been many times I've walked away from the field which will inevitably bear fruit seemingly minutes before first bloom. Had I the patience and persevera...
